Teacher: Everyone? Please listen. I want to tell you about our trip next week. Every year, we visit a museum. Last year, we went to a history museum, but this year it’s the Science Museum in London. There’s an exhibition on at the moment that I want you to see. It’s about space and I know many of you would be very interested in it.
We’re going next Thursday, so please ask your parents to fill in the travel form and return it to me on Monday, at the latest. Then I can go and get the travel tickets. The school bus isn’t big enough, so we’re going by train.
Now it’s free to get into the museum so you just have to pay £5 for travel and a bit more for food. That’s £7.50 in total. We’re going to have lunch in the museum restaurant so you don’t need to bring sandwiches. But we need to walk to the museum from the station so remember to bring your raincoat because it may be a wet day.Dad: Did you spend all your money, Amy?
Amy: No, Dad, but we all bought something. Look, I found the video I wanted.
Dad: Great!
Amy: We spent hours in the department store. Alison wants to take all her shoes on holiday, and her suitcase is too small. She bought a new one, but it took her ages!
Dad: Then what did you do?
Amy: We went with Helen to look at mobile phones. Her parents are getting her one for her birthday, so she bought a magazine that had information about all the different kinds to show them.
Dad: That’s a good idea. Did Lucy find a present for her mum’s birthday?
Amy: Yes, she looked at some beautiful shoes, but they were too expensive. But I think her mum will like the sweater she bought.
Dad: Oh good. What did Kerry buy?
Amy: A picture of our favourite band playing at a concert.
Dad: Is that the band you saw with Jo?
Amy: Yes. She got their new CD today. The music magazines say it’s excellent.
Dad: You must all be tired.

There are several methods to generate electricity such as using fossil fuels and nuclear fission. However, burning fossil fuels pollutes the atmosphere and rivers. Besides, they are expensive and limited sources of energy. Similarly, using nuclear fission also harms the environment because it forms dangerous radioactive waste. In contrast, making electricity from sunlight is cleaner and safer.
Sunlight offers many ways to get energy. For instance, a window can allow warm sunlight into your room, or solar water-heating systems can use it to warm water for houses, swimming pools and schools. In addition, sunlight also warms the Earth and causes wind which can be exploited to generate electricity. Lastly, Photovoltaic, or PV systems use a type of material that converts sunlight into electricity. PV systems can power air conditioners or satellites like the International Space Station. They are also used to run calculators, recharge cell phones, or even power lightweight cars.
Sunlight creates a large amount of environmentally friendly heat and electricity. Therefore, it can be an alternative source of energy today and in the future.
